Synopsis
Quite contrary to the general idea that the suggestopedia may be applied to the language education in a very small size class such as twelve students, this report presents the method applicable to the engineering education in a very large size( 400 students) at the sacrifice of its possible achievement. Though the author has several years of experience on suggestopedic education, no remarkable result was obtained until recently. However, a successful result of examination on July 19, 1983, after twelve times of special SALT (Suggestive, Accelerative Learning and Teaching) lectures, was achieved at last! The achievement ratio (A. R.), or the ratio of the nuznber of students over the score 80 to that under the score 79 with full marks of 100, has attained to 2.83, while the A.R. was 1.18 at the same period in 1982 and was 0.62 in 1981 when conventional lectures were given, The failure ratio (F.R.), or the ratio of the number of students under the score 60 to the total number of students was 6.7% of 347, while the F.R. was 15.7% in 1982 and 22.7% in 1981.
The school hours (90 minutes) were divided into three main Parts, or the explanation, the sessions and the exercise. Furthermore, the sessions consist of active, demonstration and passive sessions followed by the three minutes of allegro music. During the active session, specially prepared breathe synchronizing signals modulatd by brook noise were used. The students are allowed to speak each other, to ask questions to the patrolling teachers during the exercise and to get out the classroom after finishing their works.
